TradeStation works well fullstop! I can say that as a client of their services. Maybe not the best everything but EasyLanguage is great. EasyLanguage is fairly easy-to-learn and powerful program language; you can get some pretty cool customization out of the programming for creating technical indicators and trading strategies. It's a great to start for a novice from my perspective. Easy to migrate to other products that you can trade outside of futures if that is your type of thing. Plus they won't give you ridiculous margin terms where you can get yourself into a whole lot of trouble ...$400 to $500 for one ES contract is very dangerous proposition in my opinion especially if you are new to futures trading and you test your buying power intraday.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Sorry for the long delay guys. How about tradestation as a broker. I've read that customer service is worse than IB and moving funds around or even the intial funding of a account can take weeks. Plus I'm also into euro equities, is that possible with tradestation. Any comments would be greatly appreciated
I used Tradestation brokerage and I had no problem with moving funds. I used the Eurex package and had no problems.
but Tradestation did not have double layer security to enter in to the account when I used it in 2014. IB does have a second layer of security so you don't have to worry about your account getting hacked.
Hey Leatherneck (I like your handle!),
I use TradeStation, I love it. Some users in the TradeStation community complain about it a bit ...its older, margins aren't as generous as Ninja's, etc. I love Easylanguage where I can easily customize some things (but I just scratched the surface there, need to learn more and more to do on that front). The platform is very stable and have not had a crash and I am running a lot of stuff, maybe too much on it; but I have never had to call into broker desk because my computer was down with TradeStation while in a trade and I am fairly active. On the margins I don't want to even come close to using the $400 to $500 per contract that others offer (I would probably get myself into whole lot of trouble thinking ok, here is once a lifetime opportunity "I got this" leverage to the hilt and then get smoked). I have the ability to trade options on futures if I wish (I don't as I only day trade but want to explore it) and of course I can do FX and trade equities & options on all the platform. I really just trade index futures and manage some of my retirement money in stocks and sell options against my portfolio. They have a London operation from what I understand so I think European equities you are definitely good. .

AFAIK TS is checking the incoming IP address and you have to allow this address to access your account from their web site. No as good as a double identification but that's something.
I can't judge the broker itself but the software (the 9.5 version) doesn't seems to be very stable. Most of my clients (a large majority are using automation) still use the 9.1, they had to go back to it after numerous 9.5 bugs.
Just a follow up, I've been with Tradestation for a couple weeks now. I split my account 50/50. Interactive brokers and tradestation. I'm really impressed with tradestation. Thanks for all the comments guys
I did have trouble funding an account at TS, in that it took over three weeks for the funds to arrive, by wire, from a major Australian bank. My bank made 3 formal enquiries, , which were all ignored. The accountmanager at TS was puzzled and could not/would not actively pursue the various deparments within TS. Finally the funds arrived. Withdrawl by wire, was speedy.
