"The market's rigged..."
"Nobody can make money in this low volatility environment..."
"This liquidity sucks, I can never get a good fill..."
"**** Bernanke/Yellen and this QEinfinity market..."
"This market is a joke, nobody is trading out here except algos, good luck making money..."
"What a BS move the market just made..."
"This market is so manipulated, PPT/Fed to the rescue..."
I personally know I've used all of the above excuses and many more when having a bad day or week. In fact I'm pretty sure I used a couple of them earlier this week!
Well, it's time to stop the excuses. We either make money, or we lose money on any given trade, day, week, month, etc. You know that big stop run that just happened in whatever you happened to be trading, when you got stopped out? Well, it may have sucked, been BS, and been "a joke" from your perspective....
But switch positions and imagine you were taking the other side of that trade, and now are in a profitable position. From a certain perspective it may still seem unfair, rigged, or something similar, but I'll bet it softens the blow that you are actually making money due to the manipulation/rigging. The point is this: one person's pain is often another person's opportunity. It's the pain/anger that causes us to view the event in a negative light and make excuses for why we didn't make money.
So, let's use this thread as a kind of eternal dumping ground for our own excuses that we know deep down we need to let go. If you still feel the need to use it or are not ready to let it go, which is perfectly fine, do not post it. We know all of the excuses in the book, but this thread is for actually making a change, and deciding to take responsibility upon ourselves by removing the responsibility from whatever excuses we have been using. You don't have to post them all at once... one or two at a time would be better, because let's be honest, we can only let go so much at one time.
Post one or more excuse that you find yourself using, only if you are willing to let it go. Posting an excuse that you are ready to let go of that someone else has already posted is encouraged and welcomed. There are only so many, and chances are we mostly have the same ones. Post it anyway--let it go, and let's improve each other this way.
