Just throwing this out there about ThinkorSwim... Do not trade futures with them. Their commission will eat up your profits if you are an active scalper. I was trading only 1000 contracts per month max and they refused to negotiate a better commission with me... After switching brokers, I saw how profitable I could be with lower commissions which greatly helped. Even if I over-trade now, I still come out ahead in profit even after commission & fees!
Look into these brokers: Tradovate, AMP, and Optimus.
Tradovate has to be one of the best brokers I've dealt with. Excellent margins, excellent customer service, and easy to use platform. The platform is straight forward and their data feed also works for running Jigsaw!!!
Tradovate is an IB for FCM Dorman Trading. This FCM has been around for a long time.

I've traded with other brokers and some platforms are so confusing it actually cost me major money due to mistakes lol. Left an open buy limit order on Firetip by accident and it wiped out a small account I had.
If I understand this correctly, all I need to do is monitor this page to know the requirements? Like now it's 22:40 EST and the page says the current margin for MES is $50 on this date and time, not the initial margin requirement.
Just opened a new account with Tradovate. Painful with Ninjatrader, fees for Micro e-mini is $1.32 vs 1 tick micro only $1.25, does it make sense??
I'll keep Ninja for charting anyway.
In general, Micro commissions are 300% to 600% higher than the regular contracts FOR THE SAME LEVERAGE.
The brokers love them.....natch....LOL.
BTW: Interactive has one of the lowest micro commish rates.
