I appreciate all the detailed explanations. I have followed all of your suggestions, and I still can not get it to work. My "sandboxed" version of NinjaTrader 8 comes up with the same Machine ID as the non-sandboxed version.
How did you generate separate machine id's? I have been over the Replikanto page many times, and can not figure out what I am doing wrong. I am getting supremely frustrated with this.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
So, to follow up, I just tried changing the port number on the slave account, and adding the Node IP and Port number to the main Replikanto account, and it worked! I still have not figured out how to get a separate machine id, but this seems to be a workaround. I am "at work" right now, but will try to post some screenshots later of what I did.
I added a 0 after my Replikanto username (example usernamesfirst) xxxx, (second) xxxx0, (third) xxx1...) and generated my second new machine ID to submit to FlowBots for the second Replikanto license.
Quote from an email exchange with FlowBots/Replikanto support:
"It is normal to have machines with the same id, so it is necessary to sign the machine id with a different User Defined ID. I'll give you the steps to generate different Machine IDs.
You do not need a separate machine ID for the Sandboxie instances as you are not running on multiple PCs. The use of separate machine IDs only applies when you are running a separate PC or a virtual machine e.g. VMWare. The IP address for the Sandboxie instances will be the same as the PC.
I would describe Sandboxie as an isolated Application Container rather than a fully dedicated virtual machine.
So then go back through the steps I listed. I missed the step where you need to setup the Replikanto Nodes on the primary so that it knows the port number to communicate with the Sandboxie instance. See the attached thumbnail screenshot.
Also read the section "2 - Network Mode (Trade copier over local network)" on FlowBots FAQ and watch this YouTube video which shows how to setup Network mode on local network
I came across another little tool to install multiple instances and hopefully avoid conflicts. I haven't tried it yet, but I'll let everyone know how it works when I do, until then, if anyone would like to try it right now https://puvox.software/blog/ninjatrader-multi-separated-instances/ is the website for it if you'd like to check it out.
