With about 4 months of steep learning in the pocket I’m going to share my first Strategy. I called the Strategy ‘Myst’ after the adventure PC game from the nineties that I enjoyed so much. My goal was to make a Strategy that will catch the Trends but avoids the False Moves. I use a Trend indicator to determine the Trends and a Volume Oscillator and CCI to confirm the direction. A self-made simulated entry order recognizes False Signals and protects me from taking them (how nice).
I’ve done quite some Replay testing and it seems to work very well. The Strategy uses two targets of which one is set as a runner. The Strategy is based on ‘CalculateOnBarClose = true’ and is optimized for the FDAX future (I’m European) which gives some nice big moves over the day. I use the 6 MedianRenko bartype. Typical there are no more than a few trades a day.
I tried it both on NT6.5 and NT7 but the it works best on NT6.5. I think it has to do with the different behavior of the MedianRenko in NT7.
I have not traded it live but I’m close to start doing it! I will try to post my simulated results every day with explanation how it did. Feel free to start using it too and share your experience in this thread. I would appreciate keeping the thread clean by sticking to the subject. If you have some improvement suggestions please let me know so we can make it a better Strategy over time.
Have fun,
Ducman
Update: Current version is NT7 compatible. Be sure to use 'BetterRenko' bars when using 'Myst' with NT7. Also, later versions use the Sharkchop indicator (slightly adjusted) to detect chop and is the COBC set to false.
