We are starting a new contest. Here is how it works:
Starts October 1st 2011
Ends October 31st 2011
Level playing field: only posts made during date period are counted
Object is to have the most Thanks Received count during period
Helpful posts -> Users click "Thanks" button, goal is to have the most Thanks Received
Anyone can win except for me
That covers the basics. Again, the idea is that for every helpful post you write on the forum, other users will use the "Thanks" button. The more "Thanks" you receive, the more likely you are to win the contest. So, you will want to focus on writing not just quantity but quality content. Users in turn will thank the most helpful posts.
Posts made prior to the period are excluded, so even if you've never posted before, you have the same chance to win as everyone else.
You will be able to track your progress as well as the progress of the Top Ten scoreboard in real time. I will provide a URL for this on October 1st (the URL goes live at that point, so I can't post it now). The scoreboard will show how many Thanks Received for each of the Top Ten members and their position.
I will evaluate how this contest goes and decide how often we'll repeat this type of contest. For this contest, I am giving away ten prizes.
The first place prize can be substituted for something else of equal value if you have a special request. I will cover freight within the continental United States. You will be responsible for freight outside that area.
The second place through tenth place prizes are all books of your choice, just choose any trading related book from the list or any one you want I can buy for a comparable price on Amazon, and it's yours. If an Amazon gift card is easier, that is fine. We will work it out when you win.

As you know, I like to score trades. Say you measure 10 different things, and maybe some have more weight than others, then you arrive at a total score to help you decide how to trade.
I usually just output the score in text form, but I wrote a quick …
Ive been thinking about this contest and the past contests here . All great ideas imho . Waaaaaay back when futures.io (formerly BMT) was a little baby and even before that Mike has been a consistent giver , a rarity in the self directed online trading world and he deserves a lot of credit so thanks Mike for your vision and insight .
Ill have time to consistently put my 2 cents in and intend to start a thread to share the stuff Ive learned all by myself while putting on live trades without blowing up my account . Ill describe how I had to recognize common sense decisions in a functional manner , stick by my decisions , trust myself no matter the results and lots of other things that are easy to talk about and very difficult to practice .
I know that the things that were shared with me by selfless traders helped me avoid getting ran over by the market and even more importantly protected me from myself . So to share things here to give back and with a goal of preventing somebody or a lot of somebodies from getting eaten alive by the market is a pleasure . Being thanked lots of times is icing on the cake (hint) . I dont need a monitor or prizes and always pay it forward to those who do actually need .
Reckon Ill call this thread " Common sense trading decisions " and Ill start it up saturday to capitalize on the contest , thanks .
