Perhaps relocate to a foreign country to avoid any trouble. Might be a better step than filing for bankruptcy. Or probably it is too late being the litigation has begun. Pretty sad someone is bringing litigation. What for? Can you tell us who?
Surprised to hear this. Quite unfortunate. This must have been Bill Linn of IRT suing Trevor as I was contacted last month about providing testimony on behalf of IRT. I did not partake in the request as I don't get involved in litigation spats unless I'm given a minimum amount of info, ie who is suing who and why so I can assess if it's a worthy cause and don't feel like my time would be jeopardized. All I was asked was to discuss the transition period when Trevor abruptly split from Bill's IRT platform, and my emails were apparently brought up in discovery. I had much more pressing issues going on at the time, so did not abide.
Before Trevor teamed with CQG for MarketDelta Desktop, he was partnered with Bill Linn for many years using the IRT core. Bill provided it as white label to Trevor, and incorporated Trevor's Footprint and some superficial changes to his IRT platform to differentiate it from core IRT. I had a difficult time getting past the ugly transition from MarketDelta InvestorRT to MD Desktop CQG. Trevor handled it poorly imo, it was done under the radar and abruptly. People who trade at a professional level don't flip platforms on a whim without longer term stability and capability testing. If I recall, it was approaching the holidays and we were given ~6 wks to make the switch to a completely new platform created from the ground-up if we wanted FP capability. Found it unacceptable and found myself scrambling to get something patched together using vanilla IRT. I never followed to the CQG side, and still happily use Bill's robust IRT product.
With that said, will always be very appreciative of the effort both Bill and Trevor have put in over the years. Bill and his small team have obviously carried most of the heavy lifting when it came to the core platform, but the FPrint was a genuinely great idea and still use the concept to this day with much success. As an outsider looking in, it's sad that they couldn't have restructured their agreement before the split. But behind closed doors, it's obvious there were issues, nature of white label partnerships like this. Now with MD bankruptcy, I can't help but think, what the heck happened?
I wonder if both of them wish they could rewind time, try things differently. Litigation of 2yrs, if true, sounds painful. All the best you two, wish you success in life and thanks again for your efforts. Sorry it had to come to this.
Interesting, I always thought it was the other way around -- with Trevor's MD being the original platform, and Bill's IRT being a sort of white label with customizations, but originating from MD.
Yeah, that would be incorrect. Original MD was *identical* platform to IRT outside addition of Footprint chart capability and a different boot screen/window trim color scheme/few other minor tweaks. In reality, we paid an additional ~$90/month for FPrint on top of core IRT. Since FP was never patented (its a trademark), other vendors have stepped in and provided bidxask charts. Trevor will always deserve credit for the concept.
Hi i dont know how it works with company and related software, however in case M.Delta company will end business, what happens to the software footprints, order flow and all that's in there ?
Can the the platform software still be used under another company name, or whatever other solution can be provided ?
I really don't know this, and all i know is that i like this platform so much.
Thank you
