Fast Markets
Hi guys (generic term),
anyone know of a charting package that doesn't lag in very fast markets? And no it's not about the number of charts I am running or the number of indicators. I've tried quite a few and all of them lag when the algos go berserk. Surely, the institutions don't have this issue? Anyone got some suggestions?
Thanks,
Peter
I have 2 connections to the tread server - one to the DOM and one to the Chart - all through the same Internet connection.
During fast markets the DOM stays current, but the Chart lags. Yesterday it lagged by 10 points on ES when the mkt exploded to the upside.
So, again looking for a charting package with no lag
I've extensively used MarketDelta, RT Investor, SierraChart, Ninja, and Bookmap. I've probably trialled several others. I should also point out that my preference is for a desktop application - just not keen on Web/Cloud based systems.
What markets? (You may want to look into co-located server.)
What charting software?
What type of chart?
What indicators?
How much lag does your connection to your market show?
It is likely your setup / connection causing most of the lag.
Edit:
I see you posted types of software while I was posting.
If you experienced lag with all of those then the connection is the most likely issue.
Go co-location if you need less lag.

charts and DOM are separate applications on the same desktop with the same internet connection. Today, on FOMC announcement DOM was at 2915 and Chart was showlng 2923.; I would like to trade off the chart but obviously this is not a wise idea. It is now 4 minutes after announcement and a difference still remains.
I don't use indicators. I have 3 intra-day 5 minute charts open.
You still haven’t mentioned which platform you are currently having trouble with.
4 minutes would be a pretty bad lag, even for the worst charting platform. Are you sure your chart and dom are both on the same contract? As equity roll over just happened so if one automatically rolls (continuous contracts), there would appear to be a price discrepancy.
No point mentioning current platform as it has ALWAYS happened since 2007 with every platform and numerous internet connections and several PC' set ups..
