Just now I saw an ad regarding FXCM Strategy Trader platform. As for now it's beta. Currently I'm using NinjaTrader and having a lot of programming experience, I like their C# based semi open architecture.
This is the first time I see another platform based on C# and I'm curious.
Did anybody here try this new toy ? Any impressions how it compares to NT ? I want to trade, not to learn a new platform, however I'm curious about its features.
Of course, a big problem here is a catholic marriage with FXCM broker. In the past they had a bad opinion, because of requoting, stop hunting , big spreads and inhibiting scalping. Did they become less bucket shop ?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
i have downloaded and transfered all my nt indicators into strategy trader since three weeks and for now that look ok.. there's no documentation and the strategy coding is a little bit confusing but not that much.. i think fxcm is more 'respectable' now and to be honest i never had any problem with them..
for the platform remember it's a beta version, so that's mean it's not fully functional and there's some bugs but as far as i can see all my indicators coded for nt work well with small modifications and actually i'm trying to transfer some basic strategy.. i will tell you in two or three day the result with real money..
I installed the strategy Trader and gave it a quick look. At first I noticed it is at least partially a wrapper over an old COM techology, may be from ther previous VB API. At second , it is resource hungry, much more than NT7. At third it seems much less flexible. For example in Ninja home made bar charts can be programmed and indicators / strategies may be applied to them, while in Strategy Trader only predefined bar types are available and I didn't see range bars. While NT7 beta is struggling yet, as for now I'll remain with them.
They are very friendly but I have enough friends . They were slow to fill my orders and the spreads were always higher than Oanda . Marketscope is useful though but overall FXCM wasnt for me , MB is better , not perfect either but better .
I just added the new coding documentation file to the Downloads > Strategy Trader section of the Big Mike Trading forum. I think you will find the new documentation much easier to navigate and use compared to the previous version in Strategy Trader.
@Jason Rogers, shouldnt it be more like .... TSS(aka MC) is strategy trader? my understanding is that FXCM white labels MC as ST and they are using the native language for MC (which is not EL)...
