Curious if anyone else excersizes regularly and what they do.
Sitting alone in my office trading I often feel like a hermit. I try and excersize daily I feel it helps get the
cobwebs out in addition to some level of social activity. I go to the local gym and attend a 1 hour 'body pump'
class. The class usually has 10-25 others in - and you perform repetitive reps with weights to work all the major muscle groups. The music keeps it from being boring although the music generally sucks
I am usually the only man in the class and I'm ok with that. I wear a heart rate monitor and at the end of the class everyone wants to know what the calorie burn rate was for the day. I do this 4 days a week then 3 days a week I will usually take the bike out for a 16 - 40 mile ride.
I could never do this when I had a 'real job' and to me being able to do this is another huge benefit of doing this for a living. Curious if anyone else thinks this as well? If so what do you do?

I like to jog about a half mile to a mile on the tread mill to get my blood flowing and then I might do 20 bicep curls with 25 pound weights and 20 push ups. Sometimes I'll add a different muscle into the mix. The important thing to gather here is that I try to be consistent day in and out. It only takes 10-20 minutes but it keeps me relatively fit. Anytime I start getting more elaborate with the routine it ends up being a phase.

I've been doing bodybuilding style of workouts for nearly 5 years.
I started doing CrossFit a few months ago to bring up my endurance and conditioning.
I also train on a powerlifting team.
I'll be doing a half marathon in May.
I wish I lived in Portland. I visited there for a couple weeks. It's completely different there in the pacific northwest than it is over here in the tri-state area. I've always wondered what you guys think of this area in comparison. I couldn't imagine people from Oregon finding the east coast at all enjoyable considering how much more friendly people are in portland.
I'm probably going to move out there next year.

I did not work out as much as I should have (or get enough sleep) the first 4 years of full-time trading and I am paying for it now. I got sick this past spring and involuntarily lost 45 lbs in 3 months. When I started working out again seriously about 5 months ago, I was far weaker than I have ever been.
Now diet and exercise are a priority over even trading. I am working out with a personal trainer doing crossfit style workouts twice a week and am hoping to add more workouts and start regular crossfit when I get my strength back.
I guess I am lucky to have gotten a wakeup call at a relatively young age (48) where I may be able to change my lifestyle and fix things.
I've been working out for several years now pretty regularly. When I get through trading I go to the gym and do 20 minutes on an elliptical, then work out with weights. I go through my whole body with the weights once a week. Say chest on Monday, back on Tuesday, etc. It normally takes me less than an hour. I'm getting older so I'm not trying to win Mr Olympia or anything, so I don't overdo it. Most of the time lighter weights with more reps. I do it 4-6 days a week just depending on what is going on.
I don't trust the traditional medical establishment much ( long story). Anyway I see a Naturopath ND who focuses on excersize and nutrition. Here ie a recipe that both my wife and I really like and take within an hour of working out.
1 cup blueberries (frozen)
1 cup mixed fruit or strawberries
1 cup almond milk
blended
2 scoops Thorne mediclear +
2 fish oil capsules
for general health.
It tastes awesome after workouts.
