Yes I think there is a limitation in using background color. Whichever indicator uses it last (in your list of chart indicators) or puts the z order first will take preference. Same with say coloring...

Colour change
Colours are set by the high and low of a bar being above/below the ema - if the bar high and low are straddling the ema the background is Gold coloured.

Conceptually I think that the chart (Panel 1) has bounds and effectively I want to BackColor the whole Windows form.

Filling whole chart
ok - there is a method called BackColorAll which will color the wholel panel... unfortunately it will only take standard colours so it would appear that arranging a linear gradient brush or image...

FYI - the backgroundGradient may disappear if you add indicators after you have loaded this indicator.
Its to do with the ZOrder but anything else other than -1 interferes with everything else so...

I suppose the simple way would be to put the same indicator on each panel.
Alternatively you can color both the price panel and the indicator panels the same colour by using the BackColor property....
