Caution if you use Windows 8:
1. Profiling won't work in VS2010
2. You won't get per-line sample values in VS2012 because it only works with .Net >=4.0. So useless as well.

You need at least premium version, which is 5400 USD I believe....
But you can also use third party profiling tools (some of which are free)

As far as debugging is concerned, I had lots of problems with NT 6.5 and VS 2008. Debugger never wanted to attach to process, VS always crashed on NT exceptions etc...
But NT 7 with VS 2010 works...
