it really comes down to where one lives, what one wants, one's family composition and one's age.. as to if $5K per month...

I have to agree, but I dont think 1 year of expenses is enough IMO... in addition to $25-$50K in at risk capital for trading... 12-18 months of expenses would be ideal, and $25-50K in emergency funds...

for starters, this would have been a concern for me... it took him 3 years, avg of $695 per month, to raise that cash... they were his only savings... he had not traded before... no fall back plan...
