anyhow, I went with the T420s...didnt get the docking station, since I just use my workstation when I am here at home... but I use the T420s when I am...

the new minidock can support 3 monitors no issues (1xVGA 2xDVI or DP) ... which means one can have a 4 monitor setup with no issues.
The ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 (170W) packs more...

depending on your specs, but yes... it will drive a 24" 1920x1200 with discrete graphics card no issues, not sure with builtin intel..but i assume it will...so if you have the 15.6" FHD, you get two...

actually, C++ or even Java for Algo trading... dont waste your time with C#/.NET unless you are looking to create the front end for something.

correct, the compromise there is no longer being able to get 1920x1080 but instead you get 1600x900.. which to me is still decent res for such a small screen...
the XOOM is 1280x800 and the iPAD...

your biggest challenge is the resolution... 16:10 aspect ratio you will now only be able to find on the MBP17 and W701ds... I am not sure if Lenovo will continue their W701ds... obviously, the MBP17...
