that is the thing you dont see... when you are trying to offset or hedge a risk ... that risk is not on both sides... you are trying to hedge against a specific risk that would result in a loss on...

you are thinking of hedgers ... they(and their companies) are willing to pay the price of oil because they need to ensure their operating costs (for their business) remain as constant as possible.....
