Thanks, Anagami. Al Brooks uses 20ema and market being on one side of it on an intraday basis, to detect the main trend (or lack of).

Detecting trend vs. trading range

I need some help determining if we are in a trend or in a trading range.

I could look at ADX to see if it is below 25 for trading range? Any better ideas?
