Beeing in Europe I was looking for a clock and relative timer to show me when the US markets are opening and how much time left to the closure. I found this useful clock and countdown open/close utility. There is also the possibility to set an alarm clock before x minutes the markets open/close. The utility is really light and will not eat on resources, the clock will automatically adjust to an Sntp server or to your own and willl automatically switch for DTS. You can place the clock where ever you want, it is free and you can download here it : Free Stock Trading Software

You can easily plot this on a NinjaTrader chart. But then it is even better to just select the appropriate session template for the instrument and the market open and close will be displayed automatically.

that assumes we all use NT, which is not always the case, for charting...

MultiCharts also has a session manager, so it would be similar.

But yes, some software packages don't allow you to do that.
