Interactive Brokers does not charge IRA fees. Velocity and Optimus are both brokers. Velocity uses TT, Optimus uses Rithmic, so you can use MC with both Velocity and Optimus.
Does IB have free exchange data? I'm looking on their website now...
EDIT / ADD: They do charge. Not surprising given their low commissions... Got me thinking that I should call TDA to make sure. They indeed do not have any such charge / fee. The hunt continues...
If you paid $30 commission in a month, there is no fee for most US exchanges. Otherwise it's $10/mo data fee. Some exchanges are not covered, for example there is a $1/mo fee for ICE.
Even though Velocity and Optimus are not listed as supported brokers for MC, because they use supported data providers, they can be used with MC. So, the data provider support is seemingly more important. The question I need to answer then is what brokers use or offer MC data providers, the more popular / better ones (by my estimation) being:
IQFeed
Rithmic
TT
Zen-Fire
As I said earlier though, with Velocity and Optimus not doing stocks and options, I'm not sure I'll want to go that route. Would the data via Rithmic and TT be free through them though? It is as I just called them. They don't do FOREX, stock and options...
Rithmic, TT and Zen-Fire are broker feeds, they are free. IQFeed is not free.
Velocity and Optimus provide Sierra Chart for free as far as I know. Not sure whether there is a minimum round turn requirement. Infinity or Zaner (which use Transact) also provide free Sierra Chart if you make 10 rt in the month. Otherwise, it's $14/mo.
Someone else earlier highly recommended SC. I've been on their website, in sponge mode...
Here's a question regarding SC and MC too I guess... If one has multiple brokers, like let's say one for stocks and options and another for futures and FOREX, can both of these work seamlessly with something like SC or MC?
As example, I just learned that TDA and SC work together. So, if I had stocks and options there and futures and FOREX with let's say Optimus, would I be able to trade stocks and options through SC, then moments later trade futures through SC, or must I must log-out first, then log back in with the other broker's login credentials? I'm hoping it would be more seamless, like with a quick toggle...
The answer is yes. You can install multiple instances of SC to trade with different brokers. There is no limitation on how many brokers you can trade with.
However, I read from SC support board that broker sponsored SC can only connect to one broker. That is, if you get free SC from Infinity, then you can only use SC for Infinity/Transact.
