Yes, big Doctor. Who fan, and its spinoff Torchwood. The new Torchwood is now going to be filmed in California, with a couple of American actors added to the cast. Have to see how it holds up. My avatar is the Torchwood 'T'
You are a dirty old man It has too much doggy for my taste but it's still a good show.
The Killing is also a show that I watch. It's pretty good but I'm getting tired of the scenes where the family is mourning. From the last episode it looks like their might be something interesting happening with the father. I really like the Seattle location. Does anyone know if the show is a remake ? Is it a remake of Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren ?
I watched the first season of Torchwood and stopped. I couldn't get into it, if I remember right the accents seemed really fake or off, something was just not quite right. Maybe it has improved in its years, that is certainly common.
I believe all the actors in the last production of Torchwood were Brittish except for the main actor, John Barrowman. As for Dr Who. The last season with the 10th Doctor, David Tenant was awesome. Aside from the Tom Baker (4th Doctor), I think David Tenant was one of the best of the Doctor characters. The current season with Mat Smith is mainly about time traveling, so many of the stories are a little convoluted and hard to follow.
John Barrowman is Scottish. He and his parents emigrated to Illinois when he was 9.
For the most part he uses his 'American' accent, except when at home with his parents. YouTube - John Barrowman's Scottish Accent
And he has an absolutely gorgeous singing voice. A set of vocal chords to kill for. I have almost all his CD's.
Here's a sample of that wonderful crystal clear voice. YouTube - John Barrowman - What About Us?
Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper on Torchwood) is Welsh (the "odd / off" British accent you sensed)
Kai Owen (Rhys Williams) is also Welsh
Gareth David-Lloyd (Ianto Jones) is also Welsh
Burn Gorman (Owen Harper) was born in Hollywood & emigrated to England when he was 7.
Naoko Mori (Toshiko Sato) Was born in Japan, grew up in Japan, US (N.J.) and emigrated to England when she was 12
As you can probably guess, Torchwood is (was) one of my FAVORITE series.
After all, it's what you learn AFTER you know it all, that counts!
Started watching Louie recently. Hmmm, some of the shit he says just cracks me up and I burst out laughing, but some of it is also a little dark and off the wall.
