is anybody else experiencing crashes all of the time with the optimizer in NT?

You'll need to be more specific.

The most likely cause for a crash is running out of memory. You can try using the 64-bit version of NT to overcome this.

Otherwise it could be a badly written strategy, badly written optimizer type, or just a bug.
