In a flash of mind wandering today I came to wonder if pick up artists would make good traders.

Would doing the things they do like reading body language, responding and going through the psychology of doing what they do give them skills which could easily translate to making money?

I could see how such people WOULD HAVE HAD an advantage in that area on the trading floor back in the day. That series called "Floored" that spoke in depth about those traders that USED to have an edge as floor traders mainly due to their ability to read people in the pits.

The story then goes on to talk about how some of these guys were able to transition to screen trading, and some who were not.

It was an EXCELLENT documentary. Plenty of places to watch it online as well.

Yes they would. The reason why is that they use a set criteria and they work the method. Do they hit every time, no, but 8 out of 10 they hit a home run. They do not get attached to the outcome but work the process. I have been watching a series on PUA and it is fascinating, trading is no difference there are set patterns that repeat themselves in the market all the time. When you learn to see them and then you move in place your bet and wait fot it to play out. You either get what you set out to get or you do not -the you simply move to the next oppputunity.
