Hi,

Im a new trader and am currently studying technical analysis and chart patterns.

I have a preference to watch and trade off of tick bar charts. Tick bars are formed after a specific number of trades has occured and is not based on time or volume.

I was wondering if the recognized chart patterns appear in tick bar charts as they do in time charts. Are there patterns that are specific to time/price based charts and dont appear in the tick bars and vice versa?

BTW there was a really nice symetrical triangle breakout this morning on the YM. I saw it on 60 min chart, but not on the 15 or 5 min. Got a fill price of 12839 and target hit at 12785

I saw the pattern on the 300 and 900 and 1200 tick bar charts.

There is no difference ...a pattern is a pattern.
For that matter anything such as engulfing bars, pinbars, dojis, whatever...all the same.

That being said, I'm with you on using them....more reliable and profitable in my experience
