New poll up on the forum home page.

This is the discussion thread for that poll.

I've used Bloomberg in the past extensively when I was in the Biz but now, I just use Ransquawk.

Do not listen to CNBS, they're not only a joke but their news is usually late between one of their hideous commercials. I'm proud to say that I haven't watched that garbage in years.

My trading style is news averse ;-)
To check for news - especially US numbers/FED etc. - I am using a calendar site.
This prevents my open trade to be caught in a news spike to hit my stop.
So I am not really counting on news with the moves they initialize for my trades.
Much more relaxed with this style and only picking the points given under normal conditions.

I do watch Bloomberg sometimes to see what is happening and what will happen, it can be noise but you need to know how to filter. And at Bloomberg they are journalists, at CNBC they are cheerleaders for Wall Street.

I also use Forex Factory to see high impact economic events, bank holidays etc... It is not the best calendar you can find but it does the job and it is free.

I spoke with some professionals at The Traders Expo once and they say they use Trade The News: Live Stock Market Forex News Expert Market Analysis - TradeTheNews.com

BTW I do not trade news, I trade purely based on technical analysis.

Maybe the poll is early, but I am suprised at the number of people that trade with no news feed at all. I don't put a lot of weight into the news feeds, but it's always good to be aware of surroundings, or to get a heads up on any news related spike.

ThinkOrSwim has free (with account) news feed/chat rooms. Along with streaming CNBC.

I've been using TradetheNews for the last few months. It is very good for what I need. I also usually have CNBC or Bloomberg on in case there are interesting interviews.

I don't try to actually trade scheduled economic news, but I think it is useful to gauge how strong a move is by what is driving it. The best trades I've ever made have been driven by unexpected news.

There was a time when I did not use any news service.

I shorted Walmart the day Kmart declared bankruptcy.

That was painful....

@Private Banker

Thanks!

I am on their 1 week free trial now. You are right, it is much better than the talking heads.

Just another benefit of NexusFi (formerly BMT)... good info...
