Paul Miller of The Verge is taking a year off from all things internet. No apps on his phone or tablet, no internet on his notebook or his workstation.
Think how tough it is for the younger people now days...they have/are growing up with it and probably would need counseling without it.....They're almost like the Borg

Bad parenting has lead to an epidemic in childhood obesity. I say bad parenting, because it is exactly that. Parents used to allow kids to sit in front of TV for hours. This was so parents had to do less parenting. These days, parents have both the TV and the Internet as "vacation tools", vacationing from their own children. So these days, children spend majority of their day in front of a computer or tv.
Next, bad parenting is leading to an epidemic in childhood stupidity.
TV is worthless.
But internet, if supervised, could lead to significantly improved education and skill set. Too bad that instead, most parents are not supervising and kids are spending all day on sites like Facebook or other "time waster" sites. This is making them more stupid, not more intelligent.
And people wonder what is wrong with the world today...
