IB gives total margin live in the accounts page, What I would like to see it broken down by individual positions. They do this for market price, average price, unrealised P/L and realised P/L. Why not for margin? Then I can review which position uses unusually large chunk of margin and can take some action with that position. This will improve my Cushion level and allow me to put on more trades.

Even this information provided at the end of day will be helpful. There is a margin report but it breaks into various asset classes.

Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Are you talking about equities, equity options , futures or futures options ? Reg-T or portfolio margin ?

All their margins are listed here. http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/p.php?f=margin

Click on "ACCOUNT" then "Account Window". Current Excess Liquidity should give you the info that you are looking for....

I use BOOKTRADER and have set up a VIEW ACCOUNT button directly on BT for quick access.

Hope this is what you are after!

Thanks. Say I have 5 positions on SPY in iron codor . How much margin that trade is using? The idea is to get rid of heavyweights which take a big slice of total margin and that way I can manage margin utilised.

I have always had an issue with how IB reports it's closing prices on commodity options. For some reason it is always off. I called and they told me that it is just the algo that their system uses but that is BS cause the wrong price often causes my margin to fluctuate up and down for no good reason. Plus I am not getting the accurate real time P/L for my positions. You would think that it would be easy to arrive at ONE price after markets are closed.......
