how does ACD work?

if you can specify the logic, you can code it.

ACD is based on an opening range. The opening range is shown as the area between high and low of the price action during the first N minutes after the session start. For example these are opening range used:

6E: from 7:20 to 7:50 AM CT
CL: from 9:00 to 9.45 AM EST
ES: from 8:30 to 8:50 AM CT

For each instrument there is basically a different start time and duration. Then starting from the high or low, and offset is added or subtracted. The offsets are used to calculate A values for the primary breakout, and C Values for reverse breakouts.

6E: A value = 10 ticks, C value = 12.5 ticks
CL: A value = 8 ticks, C value = 13 ticks
ES: A value = 14 ticks, C value = 2 ticks

There is a whole thread on this method.

Chart for CL 08-12attached.
