Some background is warranted. First, I have had a health insurance/employee benefits business since early 2004. That produces somewhat of a bias, mostly impeachable though, as I do approach this issue with considerable pragmatism. Second, from a political perspective, I'm Paleo-Conservative and lean strongly towards Constitutional Libertarian.
So, the right thing to do is just retract the statement, but that is disrespectful and would undermine my credibility in the forum.
Healthcare benefits, meaning insurance, is a product to be purchased...not a right to entitlement. The current law PPACA is an incredibly ill conceived law. There are "politics" on both sides and then there is likely "truth". Political interests have their advocates in this debate but unfortunately the truth goes it alone.
There are five basic stake holders in this equation. Government, service providers, insurance carriers, insurance agents, and with a dual role the consumer/tax payer. A pragmatic review of the actual law...not the morons supporting it or opposing it as part of their need to retain power does show that the only stake holder with universal benefit and almost no detriment from this is...you guessed it, government.
What we are fed by those that favor the largest expansion of government since LBJ and the biggest tax increase in human history is almost all untrue and unsupported. Correct, a just and right thinking society needs to establish some standard for all it's citizens. Everyone agrees on that. Ultimately though, the only benefactor here is and will be government...the ones that are saying this will help EVERYONE.
Reforms are certainly needed in a system where abuse occurs to and by each stakeholder...but this law will make things worse for everyone, not better.
So, by enjoy the rebate I meant that the few dollars that have been rebated will be nothing, not a drop in the bucket, compared to the cost that will ultimately be hoisted upon the system. That leads to the notion that the real rapist is not the carrier alone, not the carrier primarily, but the government...they are in charge now and the belt is undone. Costs are going to go through the roof and most of that will be offset by the half of us that actually have a tax liability. There will be fewer physicians and far less than needed, care will be rationed. It is a CF all around.
