A while back I made a system that used the TS GlobalVariable.dll to control the max number of contracts that could be traded by a strategy at any given time (if the max was set to 10 and 3 strategies were running it would make sure the collective total being traded was never more than 10)

However when I decided to resurrect my old strategy I've found that it doesn't work in 64bit NT. I've seen this topic brought up once or twice before and the answer seems to be static variables. Is the static variable method something that will only work with NT64bit? (sorry I don't yet know how static variables work)

I'm hoping for a solution that will allow the strategy to work on both 32bit and 64bit system without having to make two versions.

After working on it a little bit more, I have it working in 64bit on real time trades however when I'm using static variables it doesn't work on backtests.

I have yet to see if it still work in 32bit but I'm not sure why it wouldn't
