Is it possible to program a strategy in Ninjatrader that automatically updates bids and offers based on the price of another contract.

Eg. When NG Dec12 is trading at 3500, Jan 13 is trading at 3600, place an offer on NG Feb13 at 2*(3600)-3500 = 3700 .

When I try to use the strategy wizard to do this, there's no option to bring in the price of NG Dec12 and NG Jan13 contract.

I'm relatively new to ninjatrader and have been using X Trader Pro for the last couple of years. But, now I want to trade on my own and X Trader Pro is too expensive.

Thanks for your help,
nesense

Anything is possible with NinjaTrader. You can launch the space shuttle.

The short answer is yes you can do it, but not with the wizard.

Trying to create your own spreader in Ninja is not as easy as using X_Trader or CQG Spreader, you will likely need to hire a professional programmer to do it.

Is this strategy really a spreader as I want to get done only in Feb13 and not the other contracts? I was using the Autotrader in X Trader to run this strategy. The offer limit price is input as a formula.

Do you recommend some other platform for running this strategy that is cheaper then X_Trader or CQG?

Your best thing is to document exactly what you are wanting, in detail, then someone can help you either for free, or for a price, depending on the complexity and usefulness to the community.

I cannot answer your question based on the info so far.

I am sure that NT can do it, it's just a matter of what it takes to get NT to where you were with X_Trader. If you were using ADL within X_Trader then there is going to be a big learning curve, but it is of course doable.
