Hi all,

I am a noobie with Investor RT, so please be gentle.

If I want to create a chart whereby, for example, I have a daily Moving Average that still shows the daily moving average value when you change the periodicity of the chart to any intraday value. How do I do that?

Thanks
Papa

welcome from a fellow trader in the US, and its not surprising that you said "go easy", they sure do tear and rip up, don't they, or at least some do.......

what you're describing may be a function of your platform, and not a generalized question,
if I understand you your daily MA, when you change to a lower interval, changes also,

for example, on NinjaTrader platform, I don't believe we have that problem, or else it would have been corrected many years ago. for example, say (in general) the daily MA is 60 flatline for the last 10 days, and when you change your chart to hourly, the line either disappears (because the current prices are scaled off the chart or otherwise), or the line changes to an hourly based calculation

perhaps that helps, but it seems a platform issue. does your broker have tech support for that platform?, and can help you through your settings or examples and verify what they're doing verses what you want done?, perhaps that would be a faster solution

just a few directional questions....

Hi Kronie,

It's actually a question about Investor RT.

I want to be able to change my chart quickly from daily to 10 minute and back again, but have the daily calculated moving average show, irrespective of what time frame the chart is on.

Does anyone know if that is possible in Investor RT, and if so, would you mind sharing the love!?

Hi all.

I found the answer in the end, so thought I'd share it.....

You use the "Mixed Periodicity Data" indicator.

Cheers
Papa.

Papa,

Sorry, I just saw this and it appears you figured it out on your own. Yes, MPD would be the way to go. You can import this chart definition to see how I would set this up:

Let me know if you have any problems with this method.
