I recently had someone I was teaching attempt to establish a tradestation futures account. He is young, so he does not have a lot of income or assets, but he does have the minimum 5000 necessary for account establishment.

He was denied an account at tradestation and I am curious if anyone knows what is the process and requirements for an account there. Do they do credit check and need to have some credit history? Or does anyone know the rough minimums for income or assets that would be necessary?

Also, since it seems that is not an option. Are there any other brokerages that are more lenient in this regard?

I don't know why they declined him...tell him to ask.
I been there a few years and didn't have any problem but with all the scrutiny and regs these days maybe they stick a microscope in your rear before they let you in.
