Because your original aim of the usergroup was to reward participation level all you need to do is come up with a label that suitably reflects that:
ie. futures.io (formerly BMT) Legend, futures.io (formerly BMT) Guru ... or whatever
The main problem with the label 'Market Wizards' is that it has multiple connotations and implies that a certain skill level or expertise in trading has also been obtained rather than just reflect the level of their participation/contribution to the futures.io (formerly BMT) forum.
Mike, how can you let these other people question our greatness. Not only are we active posters but trading Gods.
Isn't it bad enough we have to deal with not being worshiped but now have our authority questioned.
Any further insolence will result in me casting a spell on this place.
I dont know if it is part of the calculation, but it is in the 'experience' tab, but I would suggest removing any points for 'chats' from the calculation, especially since it is getting busier over the past few months.
I have found the forum's practice of making a special distinction for market wizards to be helpful to me as what posts and threads might be interesting or useful. Also, as I am in search of a proficient programmer for the sytem I have created; it has created some leads in the investigation. Though I have been a member of this forum since '09', this is only my second post. I have been active in other forums as a participant over the years and as useful and professional as I find this forum and it s members, I had made a decision to focus on creating a trading methodology in virtual isolation as my involvement with other activities, including the energy devoted to posting and interacting in the other forums, seemed to deflect the concentration and detract from my result. I even stopped reading my emails until an acceptable quota of creative work was accomplished for the day...it is so easy to get distracted and I am so tempted to stray from this multi-monitor prison of technology in which I am ensconced. That said, I do hope in the future, that I will be able to contribute to the welfare of the members of this forum in any way that my particular gifts and experience offer.
I want to express my gratitude and give recognition to these legends; and am very appreciative of the ongoing contributions, attention and energetic involvement that many members and especially the Market Wizzards continually cast into this stew of a think-tank. Regarding the subject of this thread, I think that the nomer, Market Wizzards can't help but remind one of Jack Schwager's wonderful books called "The Market Wizzards, The New Market Wizzards, etc., etc. The subjects of these books are in everyway, properly named as market wizzards; earning that distinction in their individual ways, but having in common that they demonstrated their expertise, their mastery, their agressiveness and sometimes their outright domination of some of these markets for moments in time. They became legendary in the battlefield of the real-time markets..some in the Pits and Rings, others in technological trading rooms and others while sitting naked in ther hot tub with the quote screens hanging from the ceiling, putting in 5000 lot orders over their portable telephones.
I had the pleasure to know and trade with some of those traders featured in those books, from my beginnings, over four decades ago, in the Chicago and New York trading pits. A new title would not be contemplated as the one Jack Schwager chose for them just seemed very fitting....wizzards they were...bigger than life...self-assured and powerful...sometimes frightening..a hundred different types...rugged individuality was often one of the foundations of their "wizzardry". Those past times supported the evolution of these traders in ways, paths and opportunities that are no longer available. Which doesn't diminish that in the new ways now available to us of analysis, creative programming and ingenuity in solving the Markets' challenging puzzles; certain members of this forum have reached a level of proficiency that deserves to wear with distinction, that coveted sash, the futures.io (formerly BMT) Market Wizzard.
