Hi All,

Does anyone know if there is a reasonably easy way to filter a pivot chart by trading instrument? For example say you trade the 6E, ES and CL. You would have all your trades listed on the first sheet with all the relevant information including a dropdown on each row indicating which instrument was traded. On the 2nd sheet you would then have all your pivot charts which would be based on the information from the 1st sheet.

What im hoping is possible would be to have a drop down on the second sheet to select which instrument you want the pivot charts to display. That way you can for example have an equity curve just plotting the 6E, or you could select "ALL" if you wanted an equity curve for everything. It would be fine if you have to click 'refresh' after selecting the dropdown to refresh the data in the pivot chart.

I've done some googling but cant seem to figure it out. Perhaps some of the excel guru's such as @vvhg and others could advise.

Much appreciated!

cheers

Well, you could achieve that in a number of ways. You could use a table with filters or named ranges with filters or as you mentioned pivot charts. I never used a loT of pivot charts, so I couldn't tell you from the top of my head how it works. But it should in fact be really simple...maybe you need a pivot table to pull the data from instead of doing it directly.
Your best bet might just be to google "filtered chart excel". Always remember, when it comes to excel, google really is your best friend...

Thanks for the reply. Named ranges I guess may be the route to go. Ill try a bit more googling again to figure something out.
