What I was trying to do was to make sure the alert box comes up over the other apps, so if I am out for a few minutes and don't hear the sound I will see the alert box floating over the other apps I was working on at the time. The email alerts are doable but that does not really give me the pop-up function. (Unless I get an email client that both works of IMAP/IDLE and brings itself to the front whenever it gets an email - actually that might be quite good.) What I was thinking about was the fact that you can use a .bat or .exe file in place of the .wav file in the alert set-up, so could link to an automation script to put MT4 to the front, but the problem with that is that if you are working on another monitor or virtual desktop, the alert box (sometimes and very inconsistently) pops up on the virtual desktop you are working on, which would be ideal if it was consistent, but it isn't, and often as not pops up on the virtual desktop you are at, but BEHIND the apps you are working on, so you still have no idea an alert has been triggered. Very useful. Not. !! So given all of that, unless there is some way of forcing the box to always come up on the monitor on which MT4 is located, and writing a little script to bring MT4 to the front, then your suggestion of using email is pretty good. If anyone else has worked out how to do the window/script bit, it would be great to know .......
