The last episode didn't really do it for me. Wasn't very exciting. And I really thought at the end the item in the submarine would have been the kid, not the guy it was (name escapes me, but he always says "friend").
So, I'm guessing Desmond is not dead, and has in fact turned Sayid back against Locke. Desmond, since the last episode, also seems to know the outcome of things or have complete confidence in himself.
I'm really thinking it's going to end up being a showdown between Desmond and Locke, especially considering the first thing Locke did upon finding out of Desmond's existence, was to try and kill him. Of course, he didn't kill him himself, which to me indicates that he can't do it himself.
Not to get too deep, but I think the showdown ultimately is between FAITH(Jacob) and FREEWILL(man in Black).Kind of ironic that "man in black" took over Locke's body considering that Locke had the most FAITH in the island out of all the Flight 815'ers...
Imo, the whole show is about how religion suppresses people and how the powerful are willing to go to war rather then let the "genie out of the bottle" or Locke(man in black) off the island...
I have it all figured out! Jack will somehow kill Locke/Smoke monster, possibly with help from Desmond. To restore the good/evil balance somehow, I'm looking at Ben to become Jacks nemesis.
I am just getting ready to start watching Lost for the first time. I hate waiting for new episodes of great series' , so I have been waiting years for Lost to finish up so I can watch them all back to back on DVD. Plus I was little worried that they'd never finish the series and it would die off unfinished (like so many other great series have done) that I wanted to wait and see if it ended coherently or not.
So as soon as this last season is out on DVD me and my GF are starting on a serious Lost marathon.
Any plot points I should pay special attention to as a first-time watcher?
I have a bold prediction: Ben will kill Locke (black monster) because Locke promised to hand over the island to Ben upon his departure, but upon the escape of Desmond from the well, Locke figured out that this works out to his advantage and that he can destroy the Island through Desmond. If he destroys the Island, then Locke's promise to Ben will be worthless. In addition, Locke will off guard to Ben's reaction to his betrayal.
By the way, I have watched the entire first five seasons only recently--all because of the posting of the Hurley automated strategy. In researching the Hurley strategy, I decided to continue the research... Thanks to Big Mike!
