But the preview of the post just shows an error message: "Error retrieving twitter status, please check input". I tested this on two different days so am I doing something wrong or is there a bug?

It is solved now, and was related to:

NexusFi site changelog and issues/problem reporting
New server deployment:

At 10:45PM eastern I downed NexusFi (formerly BMT) to transition the forum to the new servers. Process took 2 hours, and as of this post (12:45AM) I am posting on the new servers.
