I am not allowed to respond to my original thread ( moved to Brokers and Data feeds ) with only one post count.

re: Possible move from US to Sweden.

Thanks for recommending Interactive Brokers.

Tax Question : For those that trade outside the US using IB.

Do the year end Tax Forms provided by IB satisfy your country's requirements ?

Are they in a format excepted by your Accountant and Tax authorities ?

Example : Etrade does not provide a format my accountant understands. I have to send the Etrade provided .cvs files to a third party for translation into the required Schedule-D US tax form.

From what I understand so far, Sweden has a tax treaty with the US. If I trade as a sole trader in Sweden and pay 30% on gains there ( short and long term ? ), the first ~ $97k is exempt from US taxes.

I have a lot of reading to do. I'm at the beginning of a long process to discover if this is feasible for my wife and I.

I'm trying to understand the tax implications of making this move.

Comments or suggestions are appreciated.

Thank You

Les

Hi @lesurderf

As every country has different bilateral tax procedures with the USA I would recommend
to send your above questions to the swedish tax authority to get the latest terms and
conditions.
As far as the IB statements / tax sheets are concerned - they are best fitting where
I am located (IB has a seat in our country too) - so I can not tell you for Sweden here.

As for your replying on your own thread - this looks somewhat strange
If this problem still persists you may ask @Big Mike or @sam028 to get details.
