I received my new Herman Miller Embody chair today, delivered via a freight truck.
First impression - it looks much nicer than I was expecting. From the online pics, I was thinking it might be truly hideous but really it is not.
Second impression - it is smaller than I was thinking. Particularly the back.
I have not even sat in it yet. I will update after I use it for a while. So far I can confirm that my cat loves it, I'll have to get him out to make room for me.
OK first impression after sitting in it and tweaking the dials for a minute --- "wow". If it continues to feel this good after sitting in it for many hours, this will be a huge win for me.
If that doesn't work for you ... try standing. Raise the desk and move the monitors to different heights so that your neck and back are also moving. Works for me .. and burns a few extra calories while I am at it !!
That would be impossible for me, I believe I mentioned why already in the thread. Standing for any length of time in a stationary place is the greatest pain of all.
I am taking my time before reaching a decision. They allow returns up to 1 year later.
I can say that the chair is definitely more comfortable than my old one. There is essentially no real padding on the seat, whereas my old chair had a lot. But this is also where my old chair caused the most pain. The new chair still has some pain in this area, but I guess I can't expect a chair to solve all my physical body problems.
Long story short, it's absolutely a huge improvement. I still am uncertain though if there is not a better chair for my particular circumstances, so perhaps when I have more time I will continue my search.
