The ES and NQ are pretty volatile and liquid during the day. The ES is liquid in the overnight session, NQ not so much. Typically, you will see a 20-40 point range on the NQ and 10-20 point range on the ES depending on the type of day. Attached are some charts. As you can see depending on your strategy there are plenty of setups given the range. I trade part time currently between 0530-0930 PST or 0830-1230 EST. I execute between 1-8 round trips per day. I only execute when I see my setup. I am pretty good at sitting on my hands. I am profitable covering the costs of my services plus some while I am learning and becoming more proficient and confident. For me yes it's important to be profitable, but I care more about how I execute the trade. Therefore the focus is not on the money but the trade.
