I've searched everywhere for an answer so I'll try here:

I've downloaded several Strategies here at futures.io (formerly BMT) and they all 'import' successfully. However, they don't show up in the Strategy dialogs including "New Strategies".
Where did I go wrong ?

From the Control Center if you click on "Tools => Edit Ninjascript => Strategy" you should see your installed strategies listed there.
