The Japanese Nikkei index and Hong Kong Hang Seng are probably what you are looking for if you're thinking about futures.

There is also the KOSPI 200 futures, though access to them is not completely straightforward. The KOSPI options are unbelievably liquid (if you like options), but the futures still have a volume of around 300,000 a day or so.
I dont trade them, so you would have to do your own research, but I came across them when I was looking for an answer to this very question.

So far my answer has been to trade the opening few hours of the Euro market and the close of the US.

Gold, Copper, Yen, maybe Euro however...

I'm not too keen on "day trading" any of those during Tokyo hours.

You are better off swing trading over several days to weeks if you cannot
be around for the New York session.
