Can anyone explain what may have caused the overnight movement in 30 year Bonds? It looks like there was some reaction in 10 Year Notes and the Euro, but no where near the magnitude of the 30 year move. I'll try to post a picture.

Currently, the price came back down and is below the close of Friday.

I was looking at this and the euro. No idea but its definitely an interesting move. Although not the direction i would like for my euro position

You are probably right. Do you know that for sure, or is it an educated guess?

Even though the trades are being broken, I'm sure some people will lose out because of it.

I was told fat finger but I am not sure. I trade cash bonds and we tried to capitalize on it but they cancelled all our trades. I was on and watching looking for a short on the 30 year cash on brokertec. It looked like a fat finger because the cash products didn't move with the future but the size of the move makes me really wonder. When I saw it I was expecting a major event somewhere and when we found no news we shorted the 10s and 30s small. We ended up with really big gain a for such a small size but the trades were cancelled which can always happen with fixed income dealer to dealer.

Thanks, so if the trade was cancelled, were both legs cancelled for you? I've never had that happened, so I'm curious how that works. If you sold short, then later bought it back on the way down (but not all the way down), if your initial short was cancelled, but not the covering buy, you could actually be long at a loss, right?

Both legs were cancelled. That is the only way we would have not fought it
