Has anybody used spreadsheet trading in sierra chart and found other equivalent or better platforms to develop an automated system on?

I am thinking about moving to ninja trader, but I am not sure if their platform is as strong. There's so many little bugs that I am sick and tired of with Sierra. I got pushed an update and now my whole spreadsheet is blank, all gone the work that I've done for the past few weeks. And their support really, doesn't really instill confidence with me anymore.

Cheers

The SpreadsheetGear spreadsheet studies in the .NET version of Sierra are stable and reliable. However, the in-house spreadsheet studies in the non.NET version are still in development, and should not be used, IMO. Sorry to hear you lost weeks of work. That's what backups are for.

I came from NinjaTrader and would never go back. It is an unstable resource hog, IMO. By contrast, Sierra Chart is lean, stable, fast, easy on resources.

Ninja has a wizard that can create basic autotrading systems in C#, but its functionality is limited. You'd have to learn C# to equal the functionality and flexibility of Sierra's autotrading spreadsheet study.

If you are not a programmer but have spreadsheet experience, I know of nothing better out there for developing an autotrading system.

SC is really stable and very versatile. Documentation is pretty well done although more code examples are welcome. You should really consider learning ACSIL. I am running a few automated trading systems on them and they have been very stable.
