Hi,
I'm interessting in trading Futures, especially the E-Minis. But now I have to decide trading Futures directly or trading CFDs on Futures. And at the moment I'm comparing the fee I have to pay on each instrument. Can someone tell me if I have to pay a spread on Futures? Because I hadn't found any answer to this question by different brokers websites.

Does this mean that there is no bid and ask price? Because I heard somewhere that for example in the ES there is a difference of 0.25 points between bid and ask. And for my understanding this would be a kind of spread.
There is a bid, and an ask. If you place a market order to buy, it will get filled at the current ask price. If you then immediately turned around and sold it, you'd get filled at the bid price. So, in the ES market that trade cost you $12.50 (one tick) in "spread" costs.
Spreads vary market to market, and also at different times of day, before or after news releases, etc. For ES, it is 1 tick most of the time.
Yeah, thanks kevin for clarifying. There is a "spread" of typically 1 tick between ask and bid. But it's not the same as in forex, where you always pay the spread value. Eg, if you place limit order to buy/sell ES at 1800.25 and price comes to you and fills, you pay no spread on top of it. But you always pay commission & exchange fees.
