I am not certain where to post this, so I will simply ask the question, and if I am asked to move the post I will.

I am a very experienced trading model builder and trader. I have never really found a good program platform that will allow me to accurately trade equity curve moving averages (and I have tried Market System Analyzer, which is good, but does not always work properly). I have wanted to use an Excel Spreadsheet to 1) perform moving averages (which is simple) but 2) to use iterative calculations with two simple moving average for a crossover screen for an equity curve so that I can maximize profits based on back-testing. I was wondering if any one had used such a thing and could enlighten me as to how I might build a spreadsheet so I could do that. I already have a module that will perform the trades with MA crossover. I just want to be able to do a rather quick optimization without depending on another piece of software. Has anyone ever done this? If so, could you demonstrate how that would work in Excel?
