I wanted to take a poll to see on average how many ticks/pips people make a day. Assume you are only trading one lot/contract. Otherwise if you are a veteran trading tons of contracts you could say 100 ticks or something. This poll is anonymous so everyone should vote seriously to get a good idea of the trading style of our forum community. If this has been done before... Who cares! Might as well do it again. Lots of people have been coming here lately.

Hey Dragon. You might want to change this into "how much profit do you make per contract in a day". The dollar value for each tick/pip for different products and average tick range per day are so different that the answer becomes meaningless. For example, 10 ticks on the ES is much different than 10 ticks on the YM, CL, etc. Using a dollar value allows everything to be compared equally

I agree $ is more interesting but we should say that it's $ per contract.

Pips are more useful for pure scalping. If you swing part of your position then I think it makes more sense to talk dollars..

I am not sure if this counts - so I'll explain:

My strategy is to take a max. of 3 trades on Dax per week INTRADAY.
The result by end of the year (2 years documented here) is > +1'000 points.
One point counts €25. So the result is 25K€ per year and contract.
Having nearly 140 trades per year this means +7€ gain per contract and trade.

ALL trades are announced before or at taking the trade - entry and exit points (time) are
explained initially. So the result is open to be verified by anyone reading the thread.

See yourself on the always live nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) thread here: https://nexusfi.com/trading-journals/17862-gfis1-1-dax-trade-per-day-journal-134.html#post399935

Good trades - and calculate well :-)

In my journal below I have 3 months of making +20 ticks a day in the NQ/ES on demo. Just went live, avg 20 ticks a day for Wed and Thurs last week. Lost 6 ticks today. But I don't really look for trades that provide less then 20 ticks per trade.
