need a little more info than that bro... you are in windows, right?

to start with: wifi or lan? what version of windows? if wifi--through a USB adapter, motherboard, or card? in device manager, under network adapters, do you see your wifi adapter listed?

You probably need to take the disk that comes with your motherboard and install the drivers for your ethernet interface (it's probably a Realtek or Intel).

I finally got it. Thanks guys.

I had done the recommended full install from the asus mobo disc, for whatever reason the realtek driver was not part of that. I also had to bypass my router and plug directly into the modem until windows came up asking me to set the network permissions. Now it all works great.
