Reading many of these responses is quite comical, I am yet to receive any type of negative/satanic/evil/useless type references from people. Although, I tend to keep my business to myself. I'm surprised I haven't yet seen this recommended, but why not just say, "Business Owner," "I run my own Business," etc. You are theoretically doing this anyway. "Fun manager" "Money manager" "Private equity manager" all sound good as well.
The class of person in which you are being questioned by makes a huge difference. Unfortunately, most of the population is idiotic at best, when they hear that you are able to be successful by simply "Staring at a computer" they become jealous/envious which sparks the comments. Most of the world feels that the only way to have legitimate "work" or have a "job" is to go work for a boss making shit money and struggling through your life, that's the sad reality of the population.
I'm not sure exactly how your math worked out, unless you are using the post tax net income for the 100K worker and not taxing the trader at all, or taxing them 10%.
Making a million before taxes comes out to just under $3900 assuming you trade each day, not including the occasional holiday. So be safe and make $4000
Not sure why you would calculate it hourly though, one of the greatest things about being a business owner/trader/investor is that you are no longer stuck exchanging hourly time for a sum of money.
Also, don't limit yourself to only working 40 hours if you are truly building something great. Think about how much more you could get done if you doubled that number.
Because $521 is the number. And most people are used to being paid hourly. This isn't limits, it's a framework. It also includes two months off... It's theory, an idea. Something to strive towards. Most people will not earn $521 an hour, but if you invest, have passive income, and build towards that number.
I'm not counting it all in trading either, it can be income from work, income from real estate, other investments, etc.
