I remember when I started out in '88 - working as a programmer but having to do all the PC support too.

Some woman came down with a floppy, said it didn't work...

I put it in my drive and there was this horrible churning sound.

I took it out, looked at her and asked "did anything happen to this disk?".

"Well - I did spill a cup of tea on it".

Other people dream of having a cook or a maid.

I dream of having my own IT guy who I can call and just say "fix my computer."

a nice one I remember:

Her ".. I reinstalled windows. Now I can't find my files anymore. Do you know where they are?"

Me "Well, as you only have one hard drive, they're gone."

Her "Oh.. I understand." (Obviously she didn't because her words were: )
Her "Can't you hack my PC and bring them back or sth like that?"

Me "Actually no, I can't, sorry."

Her "Then why didn't you tell me I had to put them somewhere else??"

Me "BECAUSE YOU NEVER TOLD ME THAT YOU ARE SUDDENLY GOING TO DELETE YOUR WHOLE HARD DRIVE!"

Her ".. but I mentioned my PC was somehow slow last week, DIDN'T I?"

Me " "

tech: move the mouse
user: [lifted the mouse then moved it around]
user: I moved the mouse nothing happen?

that foxfire thing downloaded some virus that crashes my computer and it doesn't give me all the options that internet explorer does

I love how because I build websites / apps / online marketing, everyone expects me to be able to fix their computer when they get a virus from looking at too much porn, get a blue screen of death, or their hard drive takes a dump.
