My.NET seems to have screwed up and is causing issues with NT.
Anyone have any experience of uninstalling and reinstalling .NET in Win 7 (64).
It seems I have to use a cleanup tool as microsoft doesn't record .NET in Control Panel and I am a little nervous about this.

Any help , advice, hints much appreciated.

What makes you think that .NET is the problem ? Are any other applications having problems ?

I am not surprised you are getting nervous as from what I know it is impossible to uninstall .NET from Win7 as it comes pre-packaged – as a core component part of Operating System.
I spent quite a long time trying to accomplish this but couldn’t find any working solution other than system restore to one of the previous restore points, and if it doesn’t work reinstalling Win7

Some links and background of my futile attempt to uninstall .NET from Win7:

I've been told to uninstall .NET before from NT support for a couple of problems, that I was having with NT6.5 on several different machines.

Either .NET broke on all the my machines or it wasn't a .NET problem. Reinstalling .NET did nothing to help the problem (which was random crashes with X boxes where the charts should be).

Well thanks for all the replies.
I understand it is a core component of Win 7 so you need to use a clean up tool to rip it out - good old Bill Gates, eh?

It is at the suggestion of NT that I uninstall and I had a similar issue a while back with 6.5 and reinstalling .NET did in fact solve the issue. But that was on Windows XP and a different machine.

I have a no of problems - not least of which is that I cannot export any zip files nor can I remove any assemblies - which means I can't install b16. Plus some of my indicators exhibit strange behaviour every now and again.

I will give their suggestion a go and report back.

ok well I used the suggested clean up tool - and it successfully cleaned up.
.NET was still there and functioning and I could not install the suggested .NET 3.5SP1.
It just kept getting half way and then asking me to ' turn windows features on/off'.
Didn't make any difference if it was already turned on or off.
I guess Bill really doesn't want me taking this core component out (lol)
Back to support for their next suggestion.

I'm not sure what the issue is with NT and the .Net platform.
NT Support tells me that .Net was the issue with some of the problems I've had with NT. Their suggestion was always that my .Net was corrupt and must be repaired/re-installed.

Personally, I think this is BS.
But that is just my opinion.

I've followed NTsupports suggestions and installed, uninstalled, upgraded, repaired etc. .NET. Nothing I've done to .Net has resolved the issues with NT.

I've checked .NET and nothing I've checked has indicated that there was anything wrong with my .NET platform. The only thing that indicates an issue with .NET is NT support. No other issues with anything using or accessing .NET have been observed.

It seems to me that there is a programming issue within NT that causes them to think .Net is the problem.

Unfortunately, NT is not open source code that can be reviewed by independent programmers so the only solution is to follow NT supports suggestions to resolve the issue even though it does not seem to have any affect.
